## Frequently asked questions

### How do I calculate percentage of marks?

Percentage = marks obtained ÷ total marks × 100. For 432 out of 500: 432 ÷ 500 × 100 = 86.4%.

### How do I calculate percentage increase?

Percentage change = (new value − old value) ÷ old value × 100. From ₹40,000 to ₹46,000: 6,000 ÷ 40,000 × 100 = 15% increase.

### How do I find 18% of a number?

Multiply the number by 18 and divide by 100. 18% of 2,500 = 2,500 × 18 ÷ 100 = 450.

### Is a 50% fall followed by a 50% rise back to the start?

No. ₹100 falling 50% becomes ₹50, and a 50% rise on ₹50 gives only ₹75. Percentages are always relative to the starting value.
