About Bhai Dooj
Bhai Dooj (Bhau Beej, Bhai Phonta) closes the Diwali festival. Sisters apply tilak to their brothers and pray for their long life, and brothers give gifts in return, much like Raksha Bandhan.
How the date is decided
Bhai Dooj falls on Kartika Shukla Dwitiya, two days after Diwali. In 2027 it falls on Sunday, 31 October 2027.
Other festivals around this time

Dates follow the panchang for New Delhi (IST), worked out from the positions of the Sun and Moon; tithi times are shown in IST. Some regions and traditions observe a festival a day earlier or later, so check with your family priest or local temple for rituals.
